Lasts months shoot was postponed on account of the weather forecast which it turns out for once was spot on. So things got underway a week late but in much better conditions. The morning started with a light mist that burned off by 10h30 to reveal an exceptional day and temperatures were mild for this time of year.
The ranges were full with members and guests shooting 50 English Sporting & ATA trap. It seems that the going was slow and I have received several complaints as to the delays between details. This will be attended to before our next English Sporting event in Jan 2014 with two separate start times and two different squadings. This will avoid everyone arriving at the same time to shoot!
Also members arriving in Helicopters and using the parking area as a landing site are asked only to land and take off in non shooting hours. There is no need to circle the ranges to see who is shooting what on which range before making your approach.
The sporting ranges appear to have shot a little more difficult than envisaged. The overall high gun was Tom Liebenberg of Hermanus with 55/75 and runner up was Douglas Legg 54/75. Best sporting was Wouter Bishop 32/50 and best trap was again Tom 24/25. Well done it was not easy!
Our next shoot will be a dress rehearsal for the interclub in September. So there will be no Bush Range or ATA we will shoot 50 GGC Sporting and 50 GGC DTL for a combined total of 100. Looks like the cold front will have gone by Saturday so I look forward to seeing you all there.
